Park Avenue duplex piles on lavish details, asks $88,000/month

Custom mill work and oak paneling and en-suite bathrooms, oh my!

It was only a couple of days ago that a lavish apartment (with separate guest apartment!) at Zeckendorf Realty’s über-expensive 515 Park Avenue hit the market, with an eye-popping $35 million price tag. And now another over-the-top pad in the same building is on the market—this time as a rental—with an equally outlandish ask of $88,000/month (or $1.056 million per year).

The home belongs to Eric Ryd, a Swedish lingerie manufacturer (he once worked with Halle Berry on an underwear line), who purchased the palatial duplex in 2010 for $24 million. Per the new listing, the apartment was renovated by “an award winning team of architects and designers” (no word on who), and indeed, the spread is rather lovely.

The lower level is home to the stunning kitchen (lined with oak paneling and custom mill work), a living room, and a media room-ish space with a billiard table. The upper level—accessed via a hand-carved curved staircase, naturally—has five bedrooms, each of which has an en-suite bathroom. (If you’re paying $88,000/month, that’s the least you would probably expect.) The master, of course, is the most opulent, with a custom-created dressing room and a marble-covered bath.

It’s all very homey, but still modern, which sounds about right for a Swedish magnate’s apartment. Alas, there’s no floorplan showing off how the home was reconfigured—but you can peep the old layout and use your imagination.
