There were plenty of guesses for this week’s Pricespotter apartment—a one-bedroom in the West Village that’s benefited from a renovation—but easternwestern hit the nail on the head: the apartment, located at 84 Charles Street, is asking $925,000. Their commentary on the place, however, wasn’t exactly praise:
Kitchen cabinets look cheap and appear to be poorly mounted (the pair under the sink are not flush). Except for the bedroom, this apartment will be perpetually gloomy. This is a walk-up (which floor is unclear), in a tenement with no amenities. Towels located in the ‘linen tower’ in the bedroom suggest a pedestal sink is in the bathroom.
All of which is, more or less, true: the building is a walk-up—though the apartment is on the second floor—the bathroom has nice finishes, but not exactly spacious; and yes, there’s not much light. But give it some credit: it’s on a lovely block, the kitchen is a decent size, and the apartment itself is pretty spacious. But is it worth close to $1 million? We’ll let you be the judges of that.
Here’s the floorplan one more time:
