Every week, Curbed covers dozens of market listings that vary in price, location, size, grandeur, quirkiness, and other distinct characteristics. If they managed to capture our attention, that means there’s definitely something special going on. But some of these homes are so lovely that they warrant a special kind of notoriety as some of the prettiest homes currently up for sale in New York City. And so, here it is: five listing that have that special "je ne sais quoi" that separates them from the rest. Happy gawking!
↑It may look petite from the outside, but the Federal-style townhouse at 48 West 10th Street packs a surprising amount of space, and history, behind its charming facade. The house packs in over 5,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space, including five (flex six) bedrooms, three full and two half bathrooms, two wood-burning fireplaces, and three decorative fireplaces. It’s also asking $12 million.
↑Brokers have dubbed this Park Slope duplex as the “gateway to a modern version of Narnia” and we’re guessing that’s because of its many hidden entryways and whimsical design elements but it’s most special feature has to be the humidified pet room.
↑The building at 248 East 31st Street in Kips Bay operated as a school for several years until it was converted into a residential building in 1981 and as a result, we have this unusual triplex apartment, asking $2.1 million. Among its features are 18-foot tall ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, built-in wine racks, and a spiraling staircase.
↑The cozy duplex apartment at 325 West 21st Street boasts two bedrooms, two working fireplaces, a spiral staircase, built-ins galore, and vast expanses of exposed white brick. The loft-like lower floor houses the living room, dining room, and an ambient, French-feeling kitchen. Of course, such character comes at a price. The place is currently listed for $1.275 million.
↑Model, TV personality, and new mom Tyra Banks has listed her sprawling Battery Park City duplex for $17.5 million. The apartment is a combination of four apartments at Riverhouse and features a salon, mirrored dressing room, and a kitchen with a zebrawood island, two Miele dishwashers, a moss green ceiling, and a dining alcove that Banks told the Times she wanted to feel like a “booth at a Michelin-starred restaurant.”
