Taylor Swift's onetime West Village carriage house rental reappears, asking $24.5M

The megastar rented the century-old home last year

A rare West Village carriage house on one of the city’s most charming streets—that would be Cornelia Street—just hit the market with a whopping $24.5 million price tag. (h/t LLNYC) The home also comes with the imprimatur of one of the world’s biggest celebrities: Taylor Swift lived in the home for a spell last year, back when it was a mere $39,500/month rental.

The home, built in 1912, has been the subject of neighborhood gossip even before T. Swift decided to call it home: Owner David Aldea was making additions to the century-old house, namely a huge, not-visible-from-the-street penthouse that neighbors dubbed the “Black Whale,” for a few years.

Once that was complete—along with the addition of double-height ceilings, a private garage, and an indoor pool, because why not—Aldea put the home on the rental market. That’s where Swift comes in—she rented the pad while renovating her Tribeca penthouse, although the normally overshare-happy singer kept Instagrams of the rental to a minimum, it seems.

But all good things must come to an end, and it seems Swift has vacated the West Village dream home, allowing a buyer to move in. In addition to the aforementioned perks, the 5,400-square-foot carriage house has five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a ton of outdoor space, a fitness room and a gallery space, a whole bunch of chandeliers, a wood-burning fireplace, and even more.
