Last week, we looked for backyard inspiration in Curbed’s House Calls column; this week, we’re looking at what’s actually on the market when it comes to New York apartments with outdoor spaces.
Though you’re likely to pay dearly for the pleasure of having a garden or patio in the city, there are some six-digit candidates out there—even in hot neighborhoods like Williamsburg or Cobble Hill. Here are some of the best places we’ve found for those seeking their own slice of the great outdoors.

↑ With a little elbow grease, the bi-level backyard of this Upper East Side one-bedroom, asking $798,000, could be a truly stunning outdoor oasis. The private space is about 400 square feet, with plenty of room for a grill, a garden, or seating. The apartment itself isn’t so bad, either: it’s a duplex, with the living space and kitchen on the lower level, and a nicely sized bedroom and home office on the upper level. [Floorplan]

↑ In Williamsburg, a spacious two-bedroom condo with relatively low monthly fees (just around $500/month) is going for $959,000. The apartment itself is nice, but the star is the large backyard, which is large enough to accommodate all sorts of summer fun. (Caveat: the unit is located on the ground floor of a building on Bedford Avenue, which is likely to be a turn-off for some.) [Floorplan]

↑ The backyard of this Cobble Hill one-bedroom is probably not the best space for someone with a green thumb—but if your perfect outdoor space is more deck than garden, you’re in luck. The ground-floor co-op also has central air, exposed brick, and plenty of charm going for it. The price: $925,000. [Floorplan]

↑ A terrace encircles this cozy penthouse on the cusp of the Upper West Side and Harlem, going for $1.25 million. Located at Riverside Drive and West 108th Street, the so-called “cottage in the sky” has one bedroom, a revamped kitchen, a gas fireplace, and predictably stunning views. [Floorplan]

↑ And finally, in Crown Heights, a nearly 1,000-square-foot two-bedroom condo with a spacious roof terrace is asking just under $1.2 million. The landscaped roof comes with a built-in pergola and dining area—which’ll come in handy during the spring and summer—along with central air, two large bathrooms, custom shades, and other amenities.
