Bit by bit, details are coming out on the gas station-replacing condo at 239 Tenth Avenue, known as The Getty. The project from developer Victor Group has been in the works for a few years now, and for much of that time, it’s been shrouded in mystery, as high-end condos are wont to be.
Alas, the development’s new teaser site, which just launched today, won’t help clear too much up: The bare-bones site consists of a quick video and a contact form for prospective residents. The video itself is a mishmash of images of the site—both in its pre-condo iteration as a gas station and an improbable art exhibit (with sheep!), and during the construction process—along with a few renderings and a few menacing photos of designer Peter Marino, clad in black leather (of course). Architectural Digest was able to wrangle a rendering of The Getty’s interior that it published today, marking a first look inside the building.
What we do know: The building’s six pricey condos (five apartments plus a duplex penthouse) will all have different floorplans, and be decked out in 80 different kinds of stone, marble, and wood finishes sourced from across the world. A duplex penthouse will come with a private rooftop pool. Buyers will pay for such lavishness: It’s rumored the apartments will start at $15 million.
The condos will start on the building’s fifth floor, and sit atop a museum dedicated to the $800 million private collection of J. Tomilson Hill. The condos were also designed with art collectors in mind, and will feature walls reinforced with plywood.
Brothers Tal and Oren Alexander and Adam Modlin have been tapped to sell the building. Adam Modlin is fresh off inking a deal on Demi Moore’s fabled San Remo penthouse, and is working to do the same for Tyra Banks’s Battery Park City spread. Sales are expected to launch later this summer, with move-ins anticipated in the fall.
