Caisson installation at 9 Dekalb and Brooklyn Dime Savings Bank! @shoparchitects #herewegoagain Check out our insta story for more

All has been quiet on the 9 Dekalb news front since Brooklyn’s first supertall tower got the go-ahead to proceed after the Landmarks Preservation Commission cleared its ascent in April 2016. But it looks like there’s some movement on site. JDS Development Group, who’s behind the condo tower sprouting from Downtown Brooklyn’s landmarked Dime Savings Bank, posted a new video to its Instagram account showing that caisson installation is now underway.

Caisson installation is one of the first steps of building out the foundation for 9 Dekalb, which needs to be extra secure given the building’s 1,066-foot height. JDS declined to comment on the video, but did say that construction is underway (which we can see) with completion slated for 2020. The development group also provides an extra look beyond the scaffolding in an Instagram story—though you’ll have to act fast to catch that.

For 9 Dekalb JDS is teaming up SHoP Architects. The pair are also working on the American Copper Buildings and 111 West 57th Street.
