Welcome back to The Six-Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.
Though the Rockaways are a popular summer destination, the neighborhood isn’t exactly one of the most populous parts of the city. It’s far from Manhattan and is hindered by its lack of public transportation options (though the new ferry route helps). But if you’re willing to venture out, you can find some nice real estate—like this three-bedroom, two-bedroom condo, asking just $599,000.
The 1,564-square-foot duplex has an open-concept lower level, with four exposures that flood the place with light. A gas fireplace surrounded by an elaborate mantle sits in the center of the living room. There’s an open kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a breakfast bar, and a fair amount of cabinet space, along with a separate dining area.
Also on the lower level are two bedrooms, a washer/dryer, and access to one of the apartment’s two private outdoor spaces. The upper level gives way to the master suite and a private terrace.
Central air conditioning and a private parking space come with the apartment, and common charges will only set you back $288/month. And the place has the benefit of being just a block away from the beach. Suddenly, living in the Rockaways seems a bit more desirable.
