Another residential building will join East New York’s flurry of new developments. A commercial building will give way to a 77-apartment building that will rise eight-stories.

The Real Deal reports that Brooklyn landlord Joel Schwartz, who is also bringing a 33-apartment building to Williamsburg, filed plans for a 54,000-square-foot residential building at 820 Glenmore Avenue, between Berriman Street and Atkins Avenue. A one-story warehouse currently occupies the site, which Schwartz purchased in 2012 for $1.2 million.

Details remain scarce on whether the apartments will be affordable or market-rate. If Schwartz is looking to follow the trend of other new developments within the neighborhood, like a 403-apartment building slated to rise at 3301 Atlantic Avenue as well as the 23 single-family homes that are taking shape near Gateway Shopping Center, there is a possibility that the apartments will go the affordable route.

We’re assuming that the apartments will be rentals, though these days you never know where condos will show up. No word yet on who is designing the building or what it will actually look like.
