You would never guess that this home dates back to 1899

When it comes to Brooklyn townhouses, Gowanus might not be one of the top places that comes to mind but there are quite a few good ones to be found. Take this cute 19th century townhouse, located at 176 12th Street. It’s going for a steep $2.15 million but it’s a two-family residence and has been revamped with loft-like interiors.

On the parlor floor you’ll find a sun-filled living room, complete with wood floors, exposed brick walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows that peer out onto the deck and expansive backyard. The neighboring chef’s kitchen boasts professional stainless steel appliances, a huge island, and plenty of cabinet space.

A set of wooden stairs leads up to the second level where the en-suite master bedroom resides, as well as the second bedroom. There is a large walk-in closet, three smaller closets, and a washer/dryer unit.

In the basement, there is another bedroom along with as many as five closets and an open space that functions as a rec room. All in all, the 1,920-square-foot abode is a pretty decent space.
