For $7.8M, a 172-year-old Greenwich Village townhouse with style to spare

It’s basically the Platonic ideal of historic, renovated Greenwich Village townhouses

A historic, renovated Greenwich Village townhouse that’s basically the Platonic ideal of historic, renovated Greenwich Village townhouses has just hit the market, asking $7.8 million. It’s located on West 11th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, so one of the prettiest blocks in the neighborhood. Originally built in 1845, it’s gotten a thorough upgrade since the current owners purchased it in 2005—hence the nearly $5 million jump in price from that time.

And given the owners’ pedigree—one is a former Tory Burch executive—that renovation is pretty splendid, with chic decorative touches throughout. Let’s go through it floor-by-floor, shall we?

On the lower level, there’s a whitewashed kitchen with exposed wooden beams that looks like it belongs in the pages of Martha Stewart Living (we mean that in a good way); the second level is devoted to a cozy living room with built-in bookshelves and an ornate, wood-burning fireplace. Above that are two bedrooms, and the top floor has a master suite with a huge windowed dressing room and tons of closet space.

Oh, and there’s a charming, secluded back garden, because of course there is. The listing is on the market with Holly Parker of Douglas Elliman, and should you be interested (and have the cash to spare—and if you do, lucky you), there’s an open house on Sunday.
