Airbnb curates NYC ‘experiences’ with Sarah Jessica Parker, Ansel Elgort

But don’t get your hopes up—the tours are sold out

Earlier this year, Airbnb expanded its reach beyond short-term rentals in New York City by offering what it calls “experiences”—i.e. tours, workshops, and other events that are meant to show participants “local treasures that typical guidebooks and tours might miss.”

But while most of the experiences on offer are relatively low-key—a bike tour of Harlem; a cocktail-making lesson in Manhattan; a nighttime photography session in Central Park—one recently announced partnership is decidedly buzzier, thanks to its host: Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Sex and the City icon (who’s been starring on HBO’s Divorce as of late) will lead “a night you won’t soon forget,” per the Airbnb listing, which includes a shopping trip to Bloomingdale’s and taking in a show at the New York City Ballet. (The $400 reservation cost will be used to support the NYCB.) Tour-goers also get a pair of shoes from her eponymous footwear line, as well as frozen yogurt—but not Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, because it’s not 1999, sheesh.

There is, of course, a catch—the tour, which had four spots open, is already sold out, because apparently there’s no shortage of people who would pay $400 to go shoe-shopping with the erstwhile Carrie Bradshaw.

Airbnb also partnered with Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort (who’s apparently a New York native—who knew?), who’ll lead his own “Brooklyn rocks” tour with stops at Brooklyn Boulders in Gowanus, and Radegast Beer Hall in Williamsburg; but alas, that, too, is already sold out. The $250 fee for that will go to Americares.
