Midtown’s Olympic Tower is remembered as a place of excess, which makes this new-to-market penthouse on the 50th and 51st floors a wildly restrained one compared to the building’s history. To recap: the tower at Fifth Avenue and 51st Street, financed by Aristotle Onassis, has been home to many a high-profile person, like 1980s arms dealer and playboy Adnan Khashoggi, who lived here when he proclaimed he was the richest man in the world, and scamster Raffaello Follieri and then celeb girlfriend Anne Hathaway.
Who owns this particular penthouse, though, is a mystery. It was purchased by the LLC PH 641 Holdings in 2012 for $14 million. The 4,200-square-foot penthouse is now back on the market with Halstead for $16.995 million.
According to the listing, the apartment underwent a full renovation “just a few years ago” that brought the apartment a Creston system that controls lighting, window shades, curtains, and sound. The corner living room comes with nearly 12-foot ceilings and Central Park views. The windowless kitchen—called an uninspiring “functional” in the listing—comes off a little cold with its stainless steel countertops, but the glamorous dining room makes up for it.
On the second floor are three large bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, and an added sauna off of the master bathroom. The duplex also comes with a private elevator.
