Related Companies has tapped two starchitects to work on a new condo project spread out between multiple sites along and near the High Line. Known as Hudson Residences, the first of the projects that make up this development will be located at 515 West 18th Street, and the second will be a few blocks north at 555 West 22nd Street.
For the project on West 18th Street, Related has brought on the man behind its Hudson Yards public square and gardens centerpiece, Vessel. Thomas Heatherwick Studio has designed a dual-tower condo that will straddle the High Line.
Related is only offering up limited information on the condo at this time, but from what the company is willing to reveal we know that the buildings will have 180 apartments that will come in one-to-four-bedroom variants.
The rendering for the project shows off what appear to be glass cylinders for windows, which Related has described as a “modern interpretation of the bay window,” that will be accompanied by a custom masonry façade.
6sqft first reported on both these developments. They have identified Robert A.M. Stern Architects as the architect on the condo at 555 West 22nd Street, but Related declined to comment on that aspect of Hudson Residences. 6sqft also got its hand on a video released as part of an EB-5 funding pitch, which offers up more details on both the buildings. Head on over to 6sqft to check out that video.
Related paid more than $200 million to acquire the High Line-straddling site, property records reveal, and may have paid $175 million to purchase the site on West 22nd Street. The EB-5 promotional video for Hudson Residences claims that work on both projects will wrap in mid-2021.
