After the success of the 2017 Women’s March—which saw millions of people gathering to support women’s rights over the weekend of President Donald Trump’s inauguration—its organizers have announced a series of anniversary events set to take place on Saturday, January 20.
In New York City, that means another march through Midtown: Last year, an estimated 400,000 people took to the streets for the NYC satellite of the Women’s March, traveling from Dag Hammarskjold Plaza near the UN Building over to Trump Tower.
The route for the 2018 march will be different: This time, it’s starting on the Upper West Side, with a rally in Central Park (featuring comedians, speakers, and “two surprise guests”) that will begin at 11:30 a.m. Once that ends, the actual march will travel along Central Park West before heading through Midtown along Sixth Avenue.
On the most basic, non-political level, this means street closures, which means traffic in Midtown will be a bit of a mess on Saturday. Whether you plan to participate in the event, or just want to know how it’ll impact your commute this weekend, we’ve got you covered.
