Nearly a year after new renderings were unveiled for the High Line-adjacent Solar Carve office building, construction site photos by Field Condition now reveal that the project is finally underway.

This whimsical structure, designed by Studio Gang, is just a couple of stories above ground at the moment, but eventually it will stand 10-stories tall and bring 139,000 square feet of office space to Tenth Avenue, between West 13th and 14th Streets.

The design of the building comes from the “geometric relationships between the building and the sun’s path,” according to Studio Gang’s description of the project.

Developed by William Gottlieb Real Estate, the project has been in the works for at least six years now, though it was given a final approval to move forward in November 2015.

The first interior renderings for the project emerged last year and showed off some of the standout features of the building including the 16-foot-tall windows, and the 10,000-square-foot planted rooftop. Construction on the project is expected to wrap sometime next year.
