The Pod Hotels brand is expanding its New York City footprint with the opening of its flagship location in Times Square. The 28-story hotel, located at the intersection of 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue, opened its doors yesterday, making it the biggest Pod Hotel to date, among the current five locations.
BD Hotels, the group that runs the Pod Hotels brand, has upped the ante just a little bit at this newest location. In addition to its hotel rooms, Pod Times Square will also have 45 apartments that will be available for short-term and long-term leasing.
These 45 “Pod Pads” will measure anywhere between 600 to 800 square feet, and the residents choosing to stay here will have access to a fitness center and a guest lounge located on the top floor of the building.
Overall, Pod Times Square will have 665 rooms (in addition to the apartments) that will come in their standard bunk bed and queen bed configurations, with each room measuring about 115 square feet. Nightly rates at Pod Hotels start from $75.
Pod Times Square will also feature a new outpost of the popular NYC chain Parm, and a new Tiki Bar located in the hotel’s third-floor lobby. With this latest location, Pod now has hotels in Midtown East, Murray Hill, Williamsburg, and Washington, D.C. Pod’s rapid expansion is part of wave of micro hotels opening across the city.
