More than 100 affordable apartments in Hell’s Kitchen are now available through NYC Housing Connect. The affordable units are part of a 13-story building at 540 West 53rd Street near 11th Avenue. Prospective tenants have until December 7 to apply.
Apartments here come in studios through three-bedroom variants, and they’re open to a variety of income brackets: 80 percent, 100 percent, 125 percent, and 165 percent of the area median income. That translates to annual incomes that range from $39,292 to $172,095, depending on the apartment type, and family size. Rents on the units start at $1,091/month for a studio, and go up to $3,270/month for a two-bedroom.
Amenities include two residential terraces, a children’s splash pad, a fitness center, a card-operated laundry room, a children’s playroom, a public community garden, an on-site super, and a 24-hour attended lobby.
This affordable housing building is part of a larger three-building project undertaken by Clinton Housing Development Corporation, along with Taconic Investment Partners. This particular building was developed solely by the CHDC. Two of those buildings debuted last year, and largely have market-rate rentals.
