Four of the building’s Cary Tamarkin-designed condos have hit the market, and as anticipated, are very pricey. The least expensive among them is a four-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom apartment spanning more than 2,700 square feet and asking $7.9 million. Another unit, called “Flat 4E,” has five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms for $10.3 million; a $10.5 million duplex dubbed “The Library” comes with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
The most impressive (and expensive) of these apartments is the “Solarium Penthouse,” encompassing parts of the former St. Agnes Boys High School’s gymnasium (including 19-foot arched ceilings and a glorious skylight). It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and is asking $18 million.
Tamarkin kept many of the landmarked building’s turn-of-the-century details, while incorporating contemporary elements into its new design. Some of the vintage design elements—filigreed windows, carved stone facade elements, limestone window bays, and roof turrets—have also been restored. Each apartment, meanwhile, comes with 12-foot ceilings, eat-in kitchens, marble-bedecked bathrooms, and huge windows.
The building offers a series of high-end amenities like stroller valet, a gym, a recreation room with a wet bar and pool tables; refrigerated storage, and a bike room. Tamarkin Co. partnered with CL Investment Group to develop the building.
