How to watch the Village Halloween Parade from your own couch

Tonight’s the night: The Village Halloween Parade will make its annual trek up Sixth Avenue this evening. The spectacle begins at 7 p.m. at Spring Street and will travel to 16th Street, with costumed revelers—some on stilts, some on elaborate floats—and enormous puppets taking over the blocks in between.

But for the Halloween grinches out there (this editor included) who don’t want to deal with the throngs of people who take over Greenwich Village for the duration of the parade, there’s another way to catch the festivities. NY1, one of the sponsors of the event, will broadcast the parade beginning at 8 p.m., and will also have a livestream going, though you’ll need a Spectrum account (or a friend willing to lend you their password) to access the feed.

There’s also a live webcam at the corner of 14th Street and Sixth Avenue that should provide a decent, if grainy, view of the parade.

Of course, you could always just don a costume (here are some great vintage photos from the ’80s that could provide some inspiration) and check it out live and in person. Fair warning: lots of streets will be closed in the Village this evening, so know before you go.
