The massive duplex penthouse atop Ralph Walker’s stunning Art Deco tower in Lower Manhattan, now known as 100 Barclay, is now on the market for $59 million. The Wall Street Journal first reported on this 14,500-square-foot apartment, which has a living room larger than a NBA basketball court, according to the Journal.
The penthouse takes up the 32nd and 33rd floor of the building, and some of its standout features include the arched windows that rise up to 21 feet and offer views of the Statue of Liberty. The partial conversion of 100 Barclay a.k.a. the old Verizon Building was undertaken by Ben Shaoul’s Magnum Real Estate and the CIM Group (one of the developers behind 432 Park Avenue).
Shaoul told the Journal that the penthouse has been left as a blank canvas for the most part to allow the buyer to customize it to their own needs. The developer is also looking to claim two records for this penthouse: the largest living room in the city, and the largest contiguous art wall in a private home in NYC; the art wall at 100 Barclay’s penthouse measures 65 feet wide and 22 feet tall.
Corcoran’s Vicky Barron is handling sales and marketing on the penthouse, but the listing isn’t yet live. Magnum Real Estate converted this building, which was built in 1927, into 157 condos, and has fitted the building with a host of amenities (that measure 40,000 square feet) for its new residents including a lap pool, four outdoor terraces, a wine-tasting room, and spa-treatment rooms, among others.
