Essex Crossing’s tallest building is getting closer to completion

Lower East Side’s Essex Crossing nine-site megaproject is edging closer toward completion and is approaching another construction milestone. In a recent set of photos captured by Field Condition, the 24-story mixed-use tower at 115 Delancey Street, or Site Two, is wrapping up its facade installation.

The Handel Architects-designed building topped out in October 2017 and is on track to wrap up some time this year. One of its most striking features is the five-story podium at the building’s base that will serve as home to a portion of the Essex Street Market as well as a 14-screen Regal Cinema theater, the Market Line’s entrance, and an urban farm on the podium’s roof.

The building will also accommodate 195 rentals, of which 98 will be affordable housing. The lottery for those units launched in December and range from studios that rent from $519/month to three-bedrooms that go for $3,424/month, depending on the income requirements.

Interiors are being helmed by SHoP Architects.
