The 18-story condo at the corner of West 81st Street and Broadway topped out at 209 feet

Just a week after new renderings were unveiled for the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed Upper West Side condo, the 18-story building has now topped out, YIMBY reports.

Standing 209 feet tall, the building is located next to neighborhood mainstay Zabar’s; The Alchemy Properties-developed condo features just 31 apartments that come in two through five-bedroom variants. Prices will start from $3.825 million.

The project was first announced in April 2016; it followed the purchase of the three-story commercial building that previously occupied the corner of West 81st Street and Broadway. The developer spent $51 million on that purchase. The building was eventually demolished to make way for the condo building.

Construction has progressed pretty rapidly since. We got a first peek at the construction site last year, when the building was just about rising above ground, and now the structure has topped out. Sales are expected to get underway soon, and the project is scheduled to wrap early next year.
