[Update]: Bowery Boogie reports that the hotel is allegedly affiliated the the Wyndham Group and manages to find a rendering of the project, which can be seen below.

Back in 2016, a 25-foot lot located at 79 Eldridge Street on the Lower East Side was purchased by “Eldridge Hotel LLC” for $5.3 million. It was reported at that time that the site would give way to a ten-story hotel that would span just over 13,000 square feet. Since then, there hasn’t been any action happening at 79 Eldridge, sitting vacant and untouched, however, Bowery Boogie reports that construction work is finally underway and plans for the site have slightly changed.

Per Bowery Boogie, the hotel is now set to rise 14 stories and will consist of 48 rooms along with 1,243 square feet of space reserved as a potential common area. Construction finally kicked off some time this month after sitting dormant for nearly two years.

There’s no word yet on what brand the hotel will be, who’s designing it, or when it is expected to be complete, however is more information trickles down the pipeline, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
