A nine-story building for seniors is set to rise on an empty lot in Harlem, YIMBY has learned. The building will be located at 11 West 118th Street and is being developed by the Camber Property Group, according to The Real Deal. The project will cost just under $60 million to build, and will be developed in collaboration with non-profit Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement.
The city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development sold the land to the developer nearly two decades ago for its eventual development, property records reveal. Plans now filed with the city’s Department of Buildings reveal that the nine-story building will hold 136 apartments that will measure 604 square feet on average, which YIMBY says indicates one-bedrooms throughout the building.
Amenities announced so far include over 3,000 square feet of recreational space spread out between the cellar level and the ground floor. The Aufgang Architects-designed building will also have a laundry room and bicycle storage.
The building will rise on West 118th Street between Malcolm X Boulevard, and Fifth Avenue, just a block south of Marcus Garvey Park, and eight blocks north of Central Park.
