Canadian billionaire and vintage Ferrari collector Lawrence Stroll has sold his 85th-floor apartment at One57 for a significant discount. Stroll, who bought the place back in 2014 for $55.6 million, listed the condo in October for a hefty $70 million, but that price failed to lure a buyer.
In March, he dropped the asking price down to $59 million and has now managed to unload the 6,240-square-foot, three-bedroom pad. Per Mansion Global, the apartment went into contract on Monday to an unknown buyer, with the final sale price TBD.
The condo has been given a series of over-the-top revamps that include an entrance hall that’s been “upholstered in woven suede,” a great room with a sculpted ceramic wall by artist Peter Lane, and an eat-in chef’s kitchen with a drop-down TV. Other flourishes include several fireplaces, dramatic columns, and floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize the apartment’s views of Central Park and the city’s skyline.
