The Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed wealth magnet, 15 Central Park West, has emerged as the best selling condo building in New York City in the last 12 months, based on average price per square foot of apartments sold. The decade-old condo building claimed this distinction in the latest CityRealty 100 report that was published today, and first reported on by The Real Deal.
The building saw a total of eight sales between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018 for an average price per square foot of units sold at $6,045 outpacing newer, big-name developments like 432 Park Avenue and One57. Some of the notable sales at the building within the above-mentioned timeframe include a 35th floor apartment that sold for $28 million, and a five-bedroom home that sold for $21.5 million.
Sting recently sold a duplex at 15 CPW for $50 million, but since it closed after CityRealty’s timeframe, it’s not one of the eight sales that propelled the building to the top of the charts. The sale is however a testament to the continued success of the condo building.
Last summer, the building also nabbed the record for the priciest condo building in the city based on average price per square foot. CityRealty’s latest report pegs 432 Park Avenue in second place with 21 sales, and Walker Tower in third place with just 2 sales.
