Hotelier David Marx is moving forward with his plan of bringing a hotel and retail building across from the Javits Center, YIMBY has learned. Plans for the project, which is located at West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, were announced back in 2016, but there hasn’t been much movement at the site since.
Demolition plans were filed in February 2017, but work on the site is yet to get underway—as we noted in our Hudson Yards development map published in April this year. Now, plans filed with the city’s Department of Buildings reveal that a 43-story hotel will rise at 450 Eleventh Avenue.
The hotel will have 531 hotel rooms, which is almost 100 rooms more than the previously reported estimate of 440 rooms. The building will stand 487 feet tall and DSM Design Group has been listed as the architect on the project. Plans also call for retail, but it’s not yet specified where it will be located within the building.
