As the transformation of Crown Heights’s Bedford-Union Armory into rentals and a massive recreation space makes progress, a few new renderings have emerged for the megadevelopment.
The renderings depict the rentals that developer BFC Partners filed for earlier this year. The first of them is the eight-story building on President Street, between Bedford and Rogers Avenues. BFC filed plans for that in June this year. This particular building will have 60 affordable rentals that will be offered to families and individuals making between 30 to 60 percent of the area median income. In addition, the building will also have 25 apartments set aside for the formerly homeless.
Aside from the apartments, the building will have an in-patient medical facility on the ground floor, recreation space in the basement, and parking for 35 bicycles.
One of the new renderings also give us a first peek at the 15-story rental that is part of this development. BFC filed plans for that in March this year. This building will have about 330 apartments, that will be offered in both market-rate and affordable variants. This Bedford Avenue building will also have parking for 201 cars.
In all, the Bedford-Union Armory redevelopment project will create nearly 400 rentals, of which 250 will be affordable apartments. Plans also call for a recreational center with a swimming pool, and basketball courts; and offices.
