A block-long affordable housing development in Mott Haven has now launched the lottery on its 133 apartments. Known as the MLK Plaza Apartments, the 13-story building is located at 869 East 147th Street, between Timpson and Austin Place, and close to the rail yards in the neighborhood.
The project was first announced a little over two years. The building was developed by Radson Development and designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning. The affordable rentals here start from $464/month.
Apartments here range in size from studios to three-bedrooms, and are offered in four different income bands namely 40, 50, 60 and 110 percent of the area median income. This translates to annual incomes that range from $17,795 to $133,100, depending on the family size. All of the apartments come with dishwashers.
Residents at the MLK Apartments will have access to a host of amenities including an on-site super, a fitness center, an outdoor terrace, bicycle storage, a computer room, a community room, a library, and a laundry room. Prospective tenants have until October 31 to apply.
