Affordable apartments at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 housing development are finally up for grabs with units asking from $1,394/month. On Monday, the affordable housing lottery officially launched for 100 apartments at 15 Bridge Park Drive, the shorter of the two towers that make up the Pier 6 development.

In all, the 15-story tower at 15 Bridge Park Drive will have a total of 140 apartments. The 40 apartments not listed today will be rented at market-rate later this year. The affordable apartments are being offered at three different income brands: 80, 130, and 165 percent of the area median income. This can translate to annual incomes that range from $47,795 to $199,650, depending on the size of the family.

In its affordable housing lottery, the building is offering up studio through three-bedroom homes. Among these apartments, there are a majority of studios and three-bedrooms up for grabs. Residents at 15 Bridge Park Drive will also have access to a partially-attended lobby, an on-site resident manager, a fitness center, a children’s playroom, and a rooftop terrace.

The overall development at Pier 6 has been mired in legal controversy for some years now, but earlier this year, local group The Brooklyn Heights Association, abandoned its fight against the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, after the latter earned its latest legal victory, allowing the towers to move forward.

The taller of the two towers will stand 28-stories tall and be home to 126 condos. Sales on those apartments launched in June with units asking from just under $2 million. Just last month, the development team unveiled an interactive sales gallery for the condo project.

The Pier 6 housing development is being built by RAL Development with ODA New York designing. Tenants interested in entering the lottery at 15 Bridge Park Drive have until November 9 to apply. The rental building is set to debut sometime in the spring of 2019.
