Steven Mnuchin, the former hedge funder who is currently serving as the Trump administration’s Secretary of the Treasury, is selling his duplex apartment for $32.5 million.
According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, the apartment, located in the fabled 740 Park Avenue co-op, has been in Mnuchin’s family “since the 1960s,” but he purchased it outright in 2000. The listing is with Warburg Realty; the broker, Carol Lederman, is Mnuchin’s aunt, and was once the owner of the 6,500-square-foot duplex.
The apartment, located over two levels on the eighth and ninth floor, has five bedrooms—most of which are located on the second floor—and six and a half bathrooms. Like other apartments in Rosario Candela buildings, this one has a gracious layout, with an enormous living room (it’s 800 square foot, with “34 linear feet of Park Avenue frontage”), a large kitchen with breakfast nook, and a wood-paneled library. On the second floor, there’s a huge master suite with dual bathrooms.
According to the WSJ, Mnuchin is selling the apartment because he doesn’t spend as much time there; he and his wife, Louise Linton, purchased a sprawling home in Washington D.C.’s tony Massachusetts Avenue Heights for $12.6 million in 2017.
