A new housing complex is taking shape in East New York and 240 of its affordable units have made its way into the city’s Housing Connect lottery. The affordable lottery caters to applicants earning either 30, 40, 50, or 60 percent of the area median income and apartments range in size from studios to three-bedrooms.

The affordable apartments are spread across buildings that are rising at 453 Hinsdale Street, 500 Livonia Avenue, and 487 Livonia Avenue. The number of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedrooms varies depending on the income earning bracket under which applicants qualify and incomes can vary between $15,429 on the lowest end of the spectrum to $72,600 on the higher end (depending on household and apartment size as well). Rents will go from $395/month for a studio to $1,339/month for a three-bedroom.

The development is being constructed through the city’s Extremely Low and Low-Income Affordability (ELLA) program and among its amenities will be a fitness room, laundry room, on-site super, bike storage, and an outdoor terrace. The deadline to apply is November 21.
