Rybak Development is moving forward with plans to construct a 20-story residential building at 271 Sea Breeze Avenue in Coney Island. Last summer, it was revealed that the site could give way to an apartment building, named Sea Breeze Tower, with 114 units spread over 22 floors, parking for 135 cars, and a 32,000-square-foot community facility. Construction on the development has kicked off and it could become the greenest building in the neighborhood.

Brooklyn Daily reports that work on the building kicked off in mid-July and foundation work is already complete, with construction on the first and second floors currently underway. Encompassing 179,863 square feet of space, the building will offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom rentals that will include 11-foot-high ceilings. About 30 percent of those units will be set aside for affordable housing. Developers are aiming for the tower to be one of the first building in Southern Brooklyn to obtain LEED Platinum Certification.

Developers have noted that a gym, children’s playroom, bike storage, resident’s lounge, 24-hour doorman, cold storage, and an outdoor recreation area will be among the amenities at Sea Breeze Tower.

Construction is expected to wrap up by the summer of 2020.
