As Greenland Forest City Partners seeks to keep things moving at the long-in-the-works megaproject formerly known as Atlantic Yards, some progress is being made on the development.
Commercial Observer reports that two of the parcels within Pacific Park—adjacent parcels at 615 and 595 Dean Street (known to those who’ve been following this project forever as B12 and B13), between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues—have now sold to TF Cornerstone, making official plans for two new towers that were first announced last fall. The developer expects to break ground on the new project next year.
A rep for the developer confirmed that the new buildings will have some 800 rental apartments between them, along with roughly 72,000 square feet of outdoor space and ground-floor retail. That’s a departure from the original plan for 615 Dean Street, which was due to give rise to a 26-story condo tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox. It’s unclear if TF Cornerstone will stick with KPF moving forward, according to CO.
As part of the deal from last year, Greenland Forest City Partners also reached a deal with the Brodsky Organization to take over a site near the Barclays Center at 664 Pacific Street between Sixth and Carlton avenues, where that developer will build another rental tower with a school at its base.
