What/Where: 1BR, 1BA condo in Kips Bay

Square Footage: Approximately 650

Maintenance/Common Charges: $620

Taxes: $606

There’s a rather serene quality to this one-bedroom condo in Murray Hill, which has a minimalist look (white kitchen cabinets, a warm wood island, sliding glass doors between the living room and bedroom) and large windows that let light in. It’s not particularly large—the listing estimates around 650 square feet—but the kitchen has lots of storage space, and there’s a walk-in closet along with a spacious bathroom.

Location-wise, it’s firmly within Kips Bay, close to the neighborhood’s Fairway market, movie theater, and other amenities. (On the downside, a helicopter pad on the FDR Drive is also nearby.) Together, taxes and common charges come to a little over $1,200/month.

Knowing all that, how much do you think the apartment is asking?

A kitchen with white counters and cabinets, a stainless steel stove, and wood floors. There are two wooden bowls on one counter.
A view of a bedroom through two sliding glass doors. The bedroom has a bed with a green bedspread, and two white nightstands.
A bathroom with white tile on the walls. It has a bathtub and a vanity with one sink. There’s a mirror on the wall, and a towel rack with two towels.
