According to a recent article in Crain's NY, the Upper West Side is currently seeing an unprecedented rise in townhouses costing more than $10 million—four were sold last year, two are currently in contract, and another seven are on the market. In the past five years, no more than two townhouses were ever sold in the $10M+ price range in the same year. The article theorizes that many of these listing were multi-family houses that were bought before the recession and are just now hitting the market fully renovated as single family mansions.
