Warm weather has finally arrived and with it comes the inevitable desire to ditch the old routine and eat, drink, and have fun in the sun—which may also mean leaving the gym far behind. We can't blame you. When the weather is nice, why would anyone want to spend it sweating away inside a stuffy gym when you could be sweating outdoors? There's a feasible solution: Get fit outdoors with these great opportunities across New York City parks, piers, and more with many free and low-cost classes and sessions to help you stay on track.

Every last Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. until August 29, Calado of Dende Arts will lead a Capoeira class in Bryant Park. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art, that “combines dance, self-defense, and acrobatics,” the class description says.

Every Monday at 6:30 p.m starting on June 3 and until August 30, Northern Manhattan Parks and Bread and Yoga will host a West African Dance class in Inwood Hill Park. “African dances are largely participatory, with spectators being part of the performance,” the class description says.

These lessons are $25, but Wave Hill members get a 10 percent discount.
