NYC's Major League Soccer Stadium Could Land at Columbia

View as Map

After failed attempts to build a Major League Soccer stadium in Hudson River Park, Flushing, and the Bronx, the owners (the New York Yankees and Sheik Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan of the Abu Dhabi royal family) of New York City F.C. have now turned their attention to Columbia University's Baker Athletics Complex in Inwood, where, the Times reports, they would demolish the 17,000-seat Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium and replace it with a new 25,000-seat stadium, which would cost $400 million and be shared by the Columbia (American) football team.
