Before the real dreaded summer—the hot, humid, sticky version—begins, examine our updated Public Art Map, which has a lot of new additions since we previously published it. Some of these installations are permanent, some will run through the end of the summer, and others' days are numbered (as in, gone by the end of June). Even if you don't plan to visit Staten Island to frolic in a PVC-piping homage to an ancient Japanese woodcut, familiarity with our map will make you aware of what you are passing as you stroll around the city this spring and summer, so one can avoid looking like a philistine.
