Weekend Open House Tour: Fireplaces of Carroll Gardens

View as Map

The listing for 71 3rd Street (the first image in the photo gallery) offers a pretty original and compelling argument for what makes Carroll Gardens so great. "[The] 1886 brick carriage home," the listing reads, is "nestled on the cusp of established Carroll Gardens and anything-goes Gowanus." Carroll Gardens and Gowanus: they're the perfect blend! (When they refer to "anything-goes Gowanus" the "anything" is, of course, pollution. It could be possible that citing Carroll Gardens' proximity to an industrial waste dump isn't the absolute best marketing strategy, but then again, you never know until you try it.) Regardless of all that, it is a well known scientific fact that Carroll Gardens is awesome. And tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day, so what better way to enjoy it than looking at some fine Carroll Gardens open houses (which all seem to have fireplaces, seemingly as a rule)? Just try not to take a wrong turn and fall into the canal.
