The final stretch of the boardwalk between Beach 117th Street and Beach 126th Street got its finishing touches just in time for the 4th of July weekend.
Repair work at the housing development, which is home to 400 families, includes a full roof replacement, stand-by generators for back-up power, flood-protected equipment annexes, upgraded playgrounds and recreational areas, among several others.
The reconstruction of the Rockaway Boardwalk has been set back over the past four years, most recently owing to new crane restrictions. There's also a less suspect reason why its opening date is being pushed back.
